Jowa Imre Kis-Jovak

Imre Kis-Jovak is the director/founder of Architectenbureau Jowa that bears his nickname. Jowa received his training in interior design in his homeland ex. Yugoslavia. At the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam he graduated in Architectural and 3D design and was also on their faculty, teaching professional theory, interior and furniture design. In both The Netherlands and abroad he is regularly invited as a guest lecturer about exhibition design and his sources of inspiration, such as the vernacular architecture of the Toraja in Sulswesi, Indonesia. He has also published several books and articles on his field research there.

Jowa is a member of the Netherlands Association of Interior Architects BNI and due to his expertise in exhibition and museum design also of the International Council of Museums, ICOM and of the International Committee for Museum Techniques ICAMT.

Letteke Klooster

Letteke Klooster has worked at Architectenbureau Jowa as a 3D architectural designer since 2010. She graduated in architectural design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie of Amsterdam in 2004 and previously worked with OPERA Amsterdam at various museum- and interior projects.

Loan Oei

Loan Oei

Loan Oei has been involved in the concept development of exhibitions, PR & editorial matters and project management since 1986. She has worked as an independent curator and writer, specialising in textiles since 1981. Most of her exhibitions were designed by Architectenbureau Jowa, which include Cotton Ikats 1982; Indigo, natural blue 1985; Beauty and the Bead 2006; at the Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam; and Magical Abstraction in the Ceramic Museum 'Het Prinsessehof' in Leeuwarden 1989. Since 1996 Loan is also engaged in book and graphic design.

Hesje van Duin

Hesje van Duin

Hesje van Duin has been in charge of the business, personnel and financial management at Architectenbureau Jowa since 1990. In addition she performs several Board and administrative functions for private foundations and associations.

Anika Ohlerich

Anika Ohlerich is commissioned as a freelance 3D designer on a project basis. She worked with Architectenbureau Jowa on the exhibition Amsterdam and the House of Orange for the Amsterdam Historical Museum, and on the design for the competition of the 'Stadtmuseum im Wihelmpalais' in Stuttgart.

After studying art history and theatre studies in Cologne, she graduated in architectural design from the Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam in 2004. Since 2007 she has been working under the company name 'Archetypical' as an independent designer, concept developer, researcher and teacher.
